Is your denture provider legally qualified?
12/8/2011 2:27:37 PM
Your dentures can only be made by a person who is legally qualified to do so.

Recently,  a Dawlish man pleaded guilty to carrying out illegal dentistry practices from his home, visiting people in their home to take teeth moulds which he was not qualified to do. He admitted illegally supplying dentures and related services, supplying dentures that were poorly fitted and poorly made and delays in dealing with complaints. He was convicted of three offences under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008

You could be putting your health at risk if you choose just a dental technician who is only allowed to make dentures for dentists. A Clinical Dental Technician has undergone extensive additional training to ensure that they are suitably qualified and medically competent before they can treat a patient.

Anyone considering using the services of a dentist or clinical/dental technician can verify that person is registered with the General Dental Council for the work that they are doing by visiting their website at www.gdc-uk.org or contact the GDC helpline on 0845 222 4141.
Ultra Suction Dentures

Dorset Denture Clinic are now offering Ultra Suction Dentures. Ultra suction dentures offer patients a more affordable solution to problem dentures.

How does it Work.
However good a set of dentures may be, they can never be a real substitute for one's own teeth. A lower denture interfaces with more moveable mouth surfaces than an upper denture, making it more difficult to fit securely in the lower jaw..

Once the denture is in place in a firm bite the gum tuissues penetrate the suction chamber. The air expells through the valves. The diaphragms prevent re-introduction. The pressure difference exerts a pull and seals off. The result - a better fit to the tissues and an improved resistance to dislodging forces.

Please call the clinic to arrange your free consultation.
